Fluorocarbons influence the climate in the atmosphere. They contribute to global warming (greenhouse effect) because the molecules absorb heat radiation from the earth's surface. The GWP value (Global Warming Potential) of the individual fluorinated hydrocarbons is very different and is 100 to 12000 times higher than that of carbon dioxide.
