Wörterbuch (en): Composite order
- Composite order
One of the five classical column orders. In the hierarchy of column orders it occupies the highest place above the Corinthian order. Thus it is also used in the multi-storey façade design for the top floor. The structure of the composite order follows the basic features of the Corinthian order. The shaft and proportions follow the design patterns of the Corinthian order. The capital of the composite order is a combination of the volutes of the Ionic diagonal capital and the capital body of the Corinthian capital decorated with acanthus leaves.
